I didn’t even buy the kids new costumes which is a FIRST.  We did plan on reusing girl2004′s Cinderella costume but since she swears the costume is “itchy” we’ve been experimenting a little.  Nothing worth showing you here but I did want to share a few mixes that I thought were cute, I’m not sure what they’re going to be for Halloween, I do have about 15 hours after all, we’re going to be creative!

The kids had a great time getting lost in the stalks. We took a long hayride and marveled at all the hay rolls. It was just a wee bit creepy with visions of Malechai and all, the only thing I know about corn fields I saw in that movie, The Children of the Corn so I was a bit uneasy. Here are some of our moments caught on film…

My new obsession is planting trees. I planted 2 red delicious and 1 peach tree last week, now I’ve got my sites on Birch trees. When the kids and I went on our nature walk last week we found some Birch trees which I absolutely LoVe! I can’t wait to plant a couple of these on the north side of our house. I want to plant several to make a little forest of them, I especially the love the bark when it peels to reveal the salmon colored under-bark. The kids were amazed with it too. Birch is especially appealing for the winter when everything will be grey, Birch bark will add some color.

Here are some photos from our routine little nature trail… see the little froggies? As I told you in another post I am fascinated by mushrooms. Here are some cute little ones we saw. We also found some fresh turkey tracks and could hear them all around us in the woods. Speaking of turkey, I will have a post stuffed with turkey soon! just in time for a special podcast by Butterball, stay tuned!

We started off our day with apple picking which was really nice. The apples are really good this year! I will have pics of that in a few days, they’re on my husbands camera which I can’t stand dealing with.

We also planted our two little red delicious apple trees. I hope they will grow fast, because the kids love picking apples.

We went over to drop off some apples and came across this little patch of mushrooms, I know I’m a country bumpkin taking pics of mushrooms. Mushrooms are really fascinating I think.

The only other thing is we watched the movie, Vacancy, last night. It had some good parts but the ending was terrible. I won’t give it away but I can’t stand the way it ended.

Right now I’m mad at DH, he watched the Bionic Woman and I didn’t realize The War was on and missed it. Oprah recommended it and I always try to watch what she suggest.

I don’t have much zoom on my camera unfortunately but I think you can still make them out pretty good. I love this time of year because the deer are all over the place. We’ve never seen them in this particular spot before so we were excited!

Here are some random pictures from our annual visit to Storyland in NH. If you have kids this is a must. The best part about Storyland is they cater to the younger kids. If you have a pre-schooler that is dying to get on rides or keep up with an older sibling they’ll feel like a big kid, they can even go on a big kid roller coaster with parent. There are a lot of cool rides. If you come in after 3 p.m. you get only 3 hours in the park BUT you get a free ticket for another visit and that can be all day! There is a heigh requirement so you will want to check your child before you head out for the day.

These are some pictures from my garden 2007. I didn’t do much this year, barely even watered everything. I did start some stuff from seeds, this was my first year of success with seeds. Usually I ended up killing the seedlings. Anyway, I really like the zinnia’s, the colors just make me happy… they look like candy flowers. I can’t wait to plant tons of zinnias next year.

I am going to the store in the morning to buy several trees. At least 2 red delicious trees and 2 peach trees. I just hope they can survive these cold Maine winters. I’ll be back with pictures from that shopping trip…
