Carefree with Daily Freshness

July 17, 2009

carefree freshstartKeep fresh this summer with Carefree MomCentral has asked me to let you know about Carefree Ultra Protection liners.  These liners are proof that good things come in small packages!

Packaged in cute pink wrapping and are small enough for the smallest comartment in your purse.  You never have to be without them and you will feel fresh.  When you have a long day out and about it’s nice to have a break.

The site is informative, be sure to get your $1 off coupon, free sample and of course lots of Carefree Fresh Start tips.  There’s lot of great info for young women under the “Just for Girls” heading.  I remember that time in my life, don’t you?  In fifth grade the girls were sent home with permission slips to watch a movie about “that time of the month”, hygiene and grooming.  I was hungry for information and wondered when it would finally be my turn to menstruate!  sounds silly now of course but it’s a very eager time as I remember it and it’s nice to see a company that understands that like Carefree.

There are lots of tips for women in general on how to get the most out of your pantyliner.  Be sure to check it out soon.

1 ring circus

July 9, 2009

Some of the advantages of small town living are the smaller events and opportunities that kids get to partake in…

Last week, we attended a one ring circus and there weren’t even 200 people there.  We sat in the front row, paid $2/each for face painting and enjoyed a no-pressure small scaled circus.

Little boxes of popcorn…

$3 bucks for each little box of popcorn--- joy

Can’t wait to see what happens…circus

Dog act was cute, all the dogs were rescued from shelters across the USAcircus dog

The evening was fun but the last performance disturbed me and boy2001.  Next time I’ll be sure to ask more about the acts involved in a circus before attending…  The lady said something about these being the only performing chimps?  I’m not sure and didn’t get it on video but I have a lot of the performance I might put on youtube.  It seemed sad, they’re so smart and beautiful, I wonder what they’re thinking :(

Rockin with Guitar Hero on Tour

guitar heroWe’ve been having a lot of fun with our Guitar Hero on Tour!  I must admit I was VERY worried at first I couldn’t figure out how to do anything!  So this post is probably not for the experienced Guitar Hero players out there…  I’m going to post out all the things that confused me in hopes that it will help someone.

The first thing you’ll notice when you open the box is the hand grip piece, it’s got 4 primary colored buttons and is quite unusual looking.  It fits in the Gameboy portal of you DS Lite, it also come with an attatchment for those of you that have an older DS.  It’s very comfortable to hold onto and very easy to

The very good thing is that it’s plug and play!  At first it’s a little overwhelming to know what to play, as there are a lot of options.

What to do first?

The tutorials are very good, but if you’re like me, you like to get right in there and play!  Learn by doing I always say.  That’s where the ‘training’ section was really good for the kids and I.   The training will let you get through the song no matter how many mistakes you make!

Another alternative for those that want to get started right away will be to do the “quickplay” option.  The only problem boy2001 had was that he didn’t like that it said “song failed”.  A little disheartening when you’ve been pouring your heart out you know, so that’s why I would suggest ‘training’ for kids until they are a little more familiar with the game.  After he got a few of those messages he lost his heart for playing a little but he’s back into it now that I got him into ‘training’.

Playing against eachother!

Choose the multi-player mode.  Decide who is going to be the host and who is going to join.  Both people need grips and games in.  We haven’t gotton up to the more devilish aspects of the multi-player mode as we keep it on easy – medium but there are ways to sabotage your opponent.

And the winner is…

At the end of the round, the winner is declared, it doesn’t show percentages to know by how much so you better bring your A game if you want to be THE Guitar Hero on Tour

A nice aspect is that you get access to the other persons Guitar Hero.  So if you’ve got nearby friends, be sure you’re buying different versions of Guitar Hero for the DS and you can share the songs.  The only thing is the person may have an advantage of knowing the songs better than you because they’re practicing on them!

Guitar Hero is very fun and great for all ages once someone knows what to do that is!  Enjoy your new game and let me know what you think!

Mom Central co-ordinated this review and sent us two games to test, great thanks.

TUCKS to the rescue

July 8, 2009

Tucks

Today’s subject is a little bit off my normal scope on PajamaMom but I think it’s an important one to talk about. When I was pregnant with my first child boy2001 I didn’t have access to the information we all do now. I didn’t know many moms and those I did, never mentioned a nasty little thing called hemorrhoids.

My pregnancy was uneventful, I made sure to eat well and drink lots of water to keep things moving on down the digestive tract. When I went into labor, almost everything went wrong. It’s was almost midnight, my husband had been asleep and was grumpy, my water broke all over the floor, couch and the coupons I’d been clipping. We hit EVERY red light, he took me to the hospital’s main entrance – which was closed – instead of the Emergency Room. For a minute, I didn’t think I was going to make it and I was sure this baby was going to go flying out of me!

Well, finally we got settled in and I was ready to push. It was fast and furious, and when I pushed for the last time and boy2001 came out I said, “that’s it?” It went so fast that I didn’t realize what had happened at the moment.

Boy2001 was born within the hour of my first labor pain and water breaking. With the intensity I had a little accident shall we say. I realized with my 2ND and third child that I was pushing the wrong end that first time! The end result was I popped a hemorrhoid which I can tell you hurt more than anything else in the weeks after delivery. At that time, I became familiar with the brand TUCKS.

They handed me my tubs of TUCKS and some literature about hemorrhoids. My nurses brought me basins to sit in to relieve the sensations of pain, itching and general ewwy feeling I had. The baths worked temporarily but they were a pain AND I didn’t want to do one more thing when I got home so I got more familiar with the TUCKS.

It’s not very fun to keep yourself clean after using the restroom when you’re bleeding like crazy.  My solution was very mild soap in the shower twice a day and plenty of  TUCKS (medicated pads and itch ointment) applications throughout. When we went out, it was all about the TUCKS and they were awesome!! No itch, burn or pain and they are so easy to carry with you in a tub or for even more convenience in packets called TUCKS Take Alongs.   I also got an episiotomy with boy2001 so I really wanted that to heal, with TUCKS I felt that I was taking care of the hemorrhoid without affecting the episiotomy which was great.

TUCKS has a home on the web @ www.tucksbrand.com  It might not be a bad idea to have a small supply, the wipes can be used as a final step for baby’s diaper change!

If you’d like to hear more great information for moms, be sure to visit mommy headquarters at www.momcentral.com

Don’t worry!  but be prepared and know that it’s something that can happen to anybody!
