Nintendo DSi preorder

March 31, 2009

I’m completely and ridiculously tempted to pre-order the Nintendo DSi in blue.  There are two DS in the family and lately we’ve gotten a few games, I thought they were getting cheaper and now I know why!!

DSi is compatible with most DS-format games!

$169 Walmart

Shopping with Cart Stopper

March 30, 2009

March is national frozen foods month and now that my freezer is overflowing with all the freebies I’ve been getting, I’m finally ready to post on one of the most amazing little gadgets that helped me on all those trips to the supermarket.  It’s called the Cart Stopper and it does just that!

Extra trips to the grocery store usually spells extra stress at the checkout and the parking lot.  Cart Stopper has seriously come in handy!  My cart is stopped dead in it’s tracks!  No more worrying about my runaway groceries or crashing into a nearby vehicle when I get the Cart Stopper in place.

The directions are simple, apply suction side to clean area on vehicle, then guide the latch through the cart.  When I first read the directions I was worried, most of the time my car has a nice layer of crud on it but I always have napkins in my purse so I just used one to clean a small spot to attatch the suction.  Worked perfectly!

If you’ve got little ones or just want to keep your cart in one place this is the product for you.  It’s really ashame that the stores don’t provide this type of thing on the carts, suctions on the front end of cart or at the handle bars would save many people heartache.  Our car was struck by a runaway cart a few years ago and broke out a headlight which I muscled the retailer to pay plus we got a $200 gift card.  Even though we were compensated it was still a headache to deal with.

Buy a Cart Stopper online or visit their My Lil Monkeys to find a retailer near you.

Thanks to the FRN for the review opportunity!

Edamame Dora Snacks

March 25, 2009

These are THE most amazing edamame snack packets!  I couldn’t get girl2006 to try edamame before I found these.  They’re little single serve packets, completely nutritious and couldn’t be any easier.  Just take a packet out of the freezer, leave it out on the counter or your purse for a while so it defrosts… then snack!!  The girls LOVE the Dora images and boy2001 loves the sponge bob version.

Look for them in the frozen foods section and enoy with your little ones!

last week

March 15, 2009

I’m not sure where last week flew too.  Since I’m a solo mom in effect right now it seems like there’s never a free minute to get online.

Last week I was pretty busy spring cleaning.  Dusting pictures, backs of tvs, and more… steam cleaning carpets is my least favorite thing to do but a great relief when it’s done.  I think our steamer is outdated which makes it that much harder to do.

We all missed an entire day!  how you ask? well, we’re all so tired since springing forward last week that we were late Monday for everything and then we woke up 930 (!!!) on Thursday making it unworth it to even bother so we stayed home and bummed around.

I’m determined this week is going to be better!  My goal is to eat all our meals at home this week, so here’s our tentative menu:

  • Monday: slow cooker roast beef with onion/tomato base with white rice and steamed veggies
  • Tuesday: St. Patrick’s Day brisket with potatos and carrots
  • Wednesday: carbs lovers, spaghetti w/butter and salad
  • Thursday: mashed cauliflower (I add a tiny amount of instant mashed potato flakes and cheezes) with leftover meat or split chicken
  • Friday: ???

The biggest expense at the grocery for us right now are French baguettes.  They’re $3 each and we go through one in a sitting, if only I could find a good baguette recipe — that would save me a fortune!

never fear
