unisex crafts for kids, two easy and inexpensive

February 8, 2008

I have the hardest time finding crafts and activities to do with my son.  All the crafty things are geared towards girls in pretty pink boxes.  I recently searched for different things to do that would appeal to all three of my kids.  I was surprised by the vast ideas out there, here are two easy and inexpensive ideas.

 1.  Fossil Clay Recipe

4 cups flour

1 cup salt

1 & 1/2 cups water

create your clay and form it into the shape you’d like, then press in whatever you’d like to make a fossil of.  Plastic bugs or animals are a great choice.

2.  Classify Clean UP

create a graph of all the legos, gives them a great excuse to clean up the room!

Classify Legos by their size, for example 2 pointers

Classify Legos by their different colors

Classify Legos by their shapes

Put each different kind in a shoe box or ziploc baggy.  The same thing can be done with your childs animals.  Sort by the different groups.

Fur/Feather/Scale

Water/Land/Air

Carnivores/Herbivores

Vertebrates/Invertebrates
