I’ve decided on my candidate…

July 23, 2007

As a general rule I don’t talk politics but I’m excited, I’ve finally decided on my perfect 2008 ticket… I love both Obama and Clinton but haven’t been able to decide on who would head my perfect ticket.

I’m thinking Clinton for President, Obama for VP so he can run for President in 2012/2016. I finally decided on this because Hilary has a LOT of international experience and may already have connections, know people and serve the country very well as President. I would like to see more from Obama and let him get experience and expertise in the world before he becomes President.

Baby Einstein days are here again…

girl2006 (Miss L) is just starting to watch the Baby Einstein DVD’s we used for boy2001 and girl2004. When boy2001 was 6 months or so we bought the entire collection they had available which was a big expense but worth the 1/2 hour to an hour it gave me per day with plenty of variety.

boy2001 loved them and watched every day, that’s when I got my dishes done or put away laundry. I had so much fun with him, everyday is a joy with my kids and I feel so lucky to be able to do it. I think this is the best time to be a stay at home mom, with the internet we can express ourselves and involve ourselves in organizations or groups that we couldn’t have in the past.

So, as I watch these dvd’s for the 1000th time, I can express myself while keeping an eye on my little ones.

hummingbird meets gecko and the lost croc

My mother sent me this picture of a hummingbird and gecko meeting at the feeder in North Carollina.

I just found my camera yesterday at the 11th hour. DH was in Best Buy about to purchase a new one for me when, I got an idea – check the jackets!! and sure enough, after one month and tirelessly searching, we were reunited and it FEELS so good!!

So, the only other thing that is missing is girl2004′s pink croc… we have suspicions that she threw it out the window of the car as I’ve seen her holding it up to the window before! I don’t know how I wouldn’t have noticed it when I unbuckled her so there is a good chance that it will be found – I hope! After waiting 2 years to finally spend that $30 it is quite frustrating!

shopping, ice cream and pirates

July 21, 2007

I just got back from the Walmart with boy2001. He had a great time, staying up late, looking around, picked out ice cream for the week AND got another Pirates of the Caribbean playset!

I’m exhausted! he wanted to look at each and every Pirates of the Caribbean item… the only thing that almost caught his attention was the lego Sponge Bob sets which I would have preferred.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the biggest Sponge Bob absorber, but it does seem to a little more lasting value compared to this pirates thing he’s got going. I’m so tired hearing about pirates… it started about 3 years ago with the Captain Hook costume I got him at the Disney Store.

Every since then he’s been collecting swords (which he pronounces incorrectly) of all different shapes and sizes. If you’re wondering, it does bother me, we keep away from guns and I just didn’t see the sword thing until it was deeply entrenched in his psyche. Luckily he’s usually defending his sisters from a pesky tree, log, fence post etc…

Speaking of defending, we watched Star Trek episode “The Cage” yesterday. He is becoming quite the little trekkie, if we could get trek toys, I bet he’d want them instead of pirates! He was entranced with episodes beauty, Vina.

Fishing pictures

July 20, 2007

This is a flash from the past, boy2001 loves to go fishing, girl2004 was itty bitty at the time. Fishing is only fun for him if he’s catching, it’s amazing he does, he keeps checking his line over and over again!! the line is hardly ever in the water, if memory serves this one was too little and had to be thrown back. I was thinking of letting him run his own worm business in a few years. They make good money and can sell to the bait shops or individuals. I wonder if compost worms are the same as fishing worms? hmm…

kids and bedtime

uggh… we’ve never had a problem with bedtime, it was never negotiable for me and I didn’t let them get away with staying up or running in and out of bed, etc… Actually I lie, it was a problem for about two months last year when boy2001 and girl2004 were sharing a room. They would laugh their little heads off and sing and chant, I would try not to lose my cool which was REALLY hard, I need my beauty sleep!

Anyway, we moved boy2001 to his own room and voila, no problem everyone was happy to sleep in their redesigned rooms! it was that simple and it’s been that way for the last 7 months or so.

Now that it’s summer we hang out downstairs at night which leaves the kids somewhat on the honor system upstairs, you guessed they’re abusing it… to the point where I am back upstairs in our room, but they dare not get out of bed with me that close so they fall asleep. An inconvenience for me, but well worth it to get everyone to sleep faster.

milk and cookie bath

Milk and honey are such a wonderful metaphor for the good life. I really enjoy a milk bath, I’ve never added honey but I did pour milk in my bath a lot before I had the kids. I am on a bath kick right now, guess it’s nerves… DH is going to show up, the house is a mess and boy2001 broke the water spout for the tub!! I think I’m in trouble here, I need to get off the computer and clean the dishes… if I don’t clean the dishes the minute I get up from the table, it just doesn’t get done! I dont’ know what it is, I guess we get into the bath/reading phase and I just can’t tear myself away from the kids to do dishes!! Try a milk bath some day when you need a pick me up, maybe with a chocolate chip cookie?

I’ve started dabblling in decoupage

I’ve started dabbling in decoupage and I am astonished at how hard it really is!! It looks so easy to make nice arrangements. I thought I had a large collection of ephemera and paper goods/paints but it seems that it’s hard to have a vision and decide what is and isn’t going to look good.

I’m going to keep trying because it’s a style I really like and it’s fun to do… a little frustrating but it is fun to be creative. I also like to practice what I preach with the kids… if art is good for them, it’s good for me! I need to find out if I can find the special transparant paper to photocopy some pictures of my grandmother and grandfather as well as some really cool wedding pictures from my parents.

I’ll post some of my art soon…

how do you know what you want

July 19, 2007

I’m watching Star Trek right now, The Enterprise Incident, and the Klingon Commander brings up a great point when interrogating Mr. Spock. Spock says he doesn’t want to take command and the Klingon Cdr. asks, “or is it that no one has ever asked you?”

That is so true, so many times I act like I don’t want something because I think I can’t get it, or it’s too far out of reach. In fact if someone were to facilitate or ask me, I would jump at the chance to do somethings. A great example is track, I would love someone to say, hey let’s walk some laps while the kids run. I do it sometimes but no one joins me. They all rather sit on their tuffetts and talk all their important gibberish. It would be so much nicer if it was organized for the adults as well, fit kids are great but they also need fit parents. I bet lots of people would join in but they just don’t know what they want.
